What you’ll need
To complete your ID1, ID2 or ID5 verification, you will need:
Photographic ID
A current passport, or a current UK, EU, Isle of Man or Channel Islands photocard driving licence (not provisional).
No photo ID?
Two different List B documents instead, such as a postal utility bill under three months old or a council tax bill for the current year.
Your ID1 or ID2 form
Section A completed and signed by hand – HM Land Registry does not accept electronic signatures on ID forms.
A camera-enabled device
Access to a phone, tablet or computer with a camera for the video verification.

What are ID1, ID2 and ID5 checks?
ID1, ID2 and ID5 are HM Land Registry identity forms. ID1 is the evidence of identity form for a private individual and ID2 is for a company or other corporate body. When a solicitor verifies your identity by video call, they also complete form ID5, which is lodged with your ID1 or ID2.
Who needs an ID1 or ID5 check?
You may need an ID check if you are buying or selling a property, transferring ownership, registering a mortgage, or acting on behalf of another person – usually where you are not represented by a conveyancer in the application to HM Land Registry. If you have a solicitor or conveyancer, they will confirm if this is required.
How does your online verification work?
Our process is simple. You book online, complete Section A of your ID1 (or ID2) form, send us copies of your identity documents and join a short video call with a solicitor. We then complete and sign form ID5 to accompany your ID1 or ID2, ready for submission to HM Land Registry.
How long does the process take?
In most cases, we can verify your identity and provide the completed form within 24 hours of receiving your documents and video verification.
What documents do I need to provide?
HM Land Registry requires either one List A document – such as a current passport or photocard driving licence – or two different List B documents, such as a postal utility bill under three months old or a council tax bill for the current year. For a company (ID2) we also need a recent company search and evidence that you can act for the company. We’ll send you a full checklist when you book.
Is the online check accepted by HM Land Registry?
Yes. HM Land Registry has permanently allowed conveyancers, such as solicitors, to verify identity by video call, provided form ID5 is completed and lodged with the ID1 or ID2. Our checks are carried out by qualified solicitors in line with HM Land Registry practice guide 67.
Can I sign the forms electronically?
No. HM Land Registry does not accept any form of electronic signature on ID forms, so Section A of your ID1 or ID2 must be signed by hand. The completed forms must be dated no more than three months before the application is lodged.
How much does the service cost?
We offer individual verification (ID1 & ID5) for £89 per person and a full corporate service (ID2) for £99 per company, both including VAT. Joint owners each need their own check.
